Gaming hardware brand Razer has acquired the assets of StreamElements, the cloud-based tools platform, from Live Momentum Ltd., StreamElements’ former holding company. Financial terms were not disclosed.

StreamElements provides overlays, on-stream alerts, chatbots, tipping pages and sponsorship management tools to a user base the company puts at 2.6 million creators. The acquisition follows a difficult stretch for the platform, which cut staff through several rounds of layoffs and, in May, appeared close to shutting down entirely. Co-founder Or Perry had asked users to donate to a fundraising drive earlier this year under the appeal “keep it live.”

Razer said StreamElements will continue operating independently, with no changes to its team, branding or core tools. Overlays, alerts, chatbots, tipping and sponsorship tools remain active without interruption, and existing integrations with OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, XSplit, and platforms including Twitch, YouTube, Kick and X will continue as before. Creators keep their existing accounts, logins and settings, and no migration is required.

“StreamElements has built something millions of creators depend on every single day,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s co-founder and CEO, in the announcement. “Bringing them into the Razer family lets us double down on what we already do for creators; from the gear they stream with, to the software that powers their channels, to the programs that help them grow.”

Perry, StreamElements’ co-founder and CEO, framed the deal as a natural landing spot given Razer’s history in the streaming space. “StreamElements could not be in better hands,” he said. “Razer understands that creators have been embedded in this community for years, and they share the same obsession for getting it right.”

Some account terms will shift under the new ownership. StreamElements has updated its Privacy Policy effective August 1, and creators must accept it to keep uninterrupted access to its tools. SEPay balances can be withdrawn through December 31, 2026, after which creators will need to connect a PayPal account to continue collecting tips. Live Momentum retains responsibility for pre-closing debts and liabilities, and Razer said part of the acquisition consideration has been set aside to cover outstanding payments owed to creators before the deal closed.

Razer has worked with streaming talent before, including past partnerships with PewDiePie and Ironmouse, and runs its own creator program offering rewards, affiliate deals and Discord access to staff. The company said it plans deeper integration between StreamElements and its hardware and software lines over time, including a possible link between stream alerts, such as follows, subscriptions and raids, and its Chroma RGB lighting products. 

Razer said StreamElements will remain open to creators regardless of what hardware they use, with Razer-specific perks offered as optional add-ons rather than requirements.
