Spotify Expands Podcast Partner Program to More Than 35 New Markets
Spotify is expanding its Partner Program to more than 35 new markets, including Brazil, Colombia, Italy, Mexico, Poland and Spain. The rollout, set to launch later this fall, is the program’s largest expansion since it debuted in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia in January 2025.
Eligible audio and video creators in the new markets will gain access to the same monetization tools already available to Partner Program members elsewhere: audience-driven payouts tied to Spotify Premium video engagement, the ability to run ads on Spotify Free and other podcast listening platforms, and full retention of revenue from creators’ own sponsorships.
The full list of new markets also includes Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Uruguay, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Honduras, Panama, Bolivia, Nicaragua, San Marino, Andorra, Malta, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Curaçao, the Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Belize, Suriname, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Haiti, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Dominica.
Spotify said video podcast consumption on the platform has increased 140% since the Partner Program launched, and total monthly payouts to enrolled shows have grown more than a third since January. The expansion also changes the fan experience in the new markets: Premium subscribers will see fewer ads when watching video podcasts, as dynamic ads are stripped from participating shows while creators’ own baked-in sponsorships remain intact.
The expansion follows a round of eligibility changes Spotify made earlier this year. In January, the company lowered its Partner Program thresholds to 1,000 engaged audience members, 2,000 hours consumed over a rolling 30-day period and three published episodes, down from 2,000 listeners, 10,000 hours consumed and 12 episodes. That same update introduced sponsorship management tools for video episodes and a Distribution API allowing creators on hosting platforms like Acast, Libsyn and Omny to publish and monetize video podcasts on Spotify without changing their existing workflows.
Spotify has framed the sequence – lower barriers to entry first, then geographic reach – as a deliberate build-out of the Partner Program rather than a one-time launch. The company has said its podcast investments have contributed more than $10 billion to the podcast industry over the past five years through creator monetization, audience engagement and infrastructure support.
The new markets bring the Partner Program within reach of creator bases in Latin America, Southern Europe and the Caribbean that previously had no access to Partner Program video monetization, positioning the platform against YouTube and other services competing for video podcast creators in those regions.
