World Poker Tour, Creator Television Team Up For Creator Poker Championship
World Poker Tour (WPT) and streaming network Creator Television are partnering to produce the inaugural “Creator Poker Championship,” a first-of-its-kind poker collaboration tournament featuring popular content creators scheduled for December 18 in Las Vegas.
According to the official press release, the championship will feature social media personalities, including King Bach, Wengie, Daphnique Springs, Soy, and Jenny Lorenzo, with the event being livestreamed on Creator Television and WPT distribution channels.
“Partnering with WPT on this incredible event is a dream collaboration. It brings an exciting and unique spin to an already successful global franchise,” said Joe Ochoa, co-founder and General Manager of Creator Television.
The tournament marks the entry into sports and gaming programming for Creator Television, which is owned by ad-tech company Sabio Holdings.
Loc Sondheim, VP of WPT Studios, noted: “We’re thrilled to partner with Creator Television to bring this epic lineup of creators to the table. It’s heavy competition, big personalities, and ‘can’t miss’ poker.”
Distribution and Viewership Considerations
The event comes as poker content creators face challenges on traditional platforms. Since March, YouTube has implemented age restriction policies affecting poker content – among other online gambling content – automatically limiting poker videos to viewers 18 and over, requiring users to be logged into accounts to access such content.
The Creator Poker Championship will be available to viewers on Creator Television across multiple platforms, including Amazon Fire TV Channels, LiveTVx, Plex, Sling Freestream, and Xumo Play, as well as WPT’s YouTube, Twitch, and other streaming distribution channels.
According to the press release, the televised event will offer unique brand integration opportunities for advertisers seeking to reach the combined audience of content creators’ fans and the established WPT viewership.
In its 23rd season, the World Poker Tour has conducted tournaments in 48 countries since 2002 and has awarded more than $1.5 billion in prize money throughout its history.
