TikTok Shop Is Launching in the Netherlands, Opening In-App Commerce to Dutch Brands, Creators

TikTok Shop will go live in the Netherlands on June 15, 2026, giving Dutch users the ability to purchase products directly inside the app through shoppable videos, interactive livestreams, and a dedicated in-app storefront. The rollout is part of a simultaneous four-country expansion that also includes Belgium, Poland, and Austria.

The Netherlands launch adds to a European footprint that TikTok began building in late 2024 and early 2025. Across its initial EU markets of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Ireland, more than 100,000 businesses have joined the platform, and daily gross merchandise value grew at a triple-digit rate between August 2025 and February 2026, according to TikTok.

Dutch Brands Position for Day-One Presence

Several Dutch brands are among the first confirmed to join TikTok Shop Netherlands, including Cloudpillo, Meroda, Perfetti, N BRANDS by Nikkie Plessen, and Versuni.

“The launch of TikTok Shop in the Netherlands is an important next step for N BRANDS in further expanding our digital presence,” said Nikkie Plessen, CEO at N BRANDS. “As one of the first brand partners to join TikTok Shop in the Netherlands, we look forward to discovering how entertainment-driven commerce helps us reach consumers in an authentic and interactive way.”

The presence of creator-linked brands in the early cohort reflects the platform’s central positioning: TikTok frames the service as “discovery e-commerce,” where products surface through content rather than search, and users can complete purchases without leaving the app.

Approved creators across the EU can participate through TikTok Shop’s affiliate network, promoting products from any participating seller and earning commissions on the sales they drive. For Dutch creators with established audiences, the program provides a direct revenue channel within the platform where those audiences are already active.

Seller Onboarding Opens Today, Cross-Border Feature to Follow

Seller registration for TikTok Shop Netherlands opened on June 1, giving businesses two weeks to complete onboarding ahead of the consumer-facing launch. Dutch sellers need a legal entity, a VAT (BTW) number, and a Chamber of Commerce (KvK) registration to apply, along with proof of address and a matching business bank account. Verification typically takes a few business days.

Shortly after the June 15 launch, TikTok will introduce a “Sell Across Europe” feature, allowing sellers registered in one EU market to sell into others where TikTok Shop operates. The feature supports cross-border shipping through TikTok-partnered logistics providers and approved carriers, and allows sellers to localize product descriptions for each market without requiring separate seller accounts.

Regulatory Scrutiny Accompanies the Rollout

The launch arrives alongside concerns raised by Dutch consumer groups and media about impulse buying among younger users. TikTok Shop purchases are restricted to users 18 and older, but enforcement currently relies largely on self-declared birthdates. The age-verification question sits within a broader EU debate around platform responsibility and digital commerce protections, including age-verification measures the EU is developing.
