TikTok Launches Initiative To Help UK Students Navigate Post-A-Level Options
TikTok’s “Careers Week” is a five-day series of live events running from August 11-15, designed to provide career guidance to UK students following A-Level results. The platform partnered with Indeed, UCAS, and The King’s Trust to deliver expert advice and career insights through TikTok LIVE sessions.
The announcement follows significant engagement with career-related content on the platform. Creators have posted over 100,000 TikTok videos using career and job-inspired hashtags since June, with hashtags including #careeradvice generating 650,000 videos and #university reaching 5 million videos. Career-focused content continues expanding month-over-month across categories, including #cvtips and #interviewtips.
TikTok operates with over 30 million monthly UK users, representing the platform’s largest European user base, according to company data released in June.
Programming Schedule and Partner Involvement
The program opened Monday, August 11, with “A Day in the LIVE,” featuring an Indeed partnership content showcasing Premier League groundskeeper Tony Stones from Brentford FC. Tuesday’s “Sketch My Job” session combined career interviews with live caricature artistry.
UCAS expert Sam Sykes hosted Wednesday’s “Getting Ready for Results Day” session, addressing university clearing processes and A-Level results guidance. The week concludes on Friday with “Building a Successful Future,” featuring personal finance expert Gabriel Nussbaum in partnership with The King’s Trust.
Reach and Business Impact
TikTok UK hosts more than 1.5 million businesses, with small and medium enterprises contributing £1.6 billion to the UK economy and supporting 32,000 jobs, according to Oxford Economics research. The platform facilitates over 6,000 TikTok Shop LIVE broadcasts daily across the UK.
Nielsen IQ research identifies TikTok Shop as the fastest-growing online retailer in 2024, while UK consumers rank TikTok as their preferred social commerce destination ahead of Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
