‘Emotional Damage’ Creator Steven He Signs Global Management & Licensing Deal With Gushcloud International
Steven He, the filmmaker and comedy creator behind the “Emotional Damage” brand, has signed an exclusive global management and IP licensing deal with Gushcloud International.
Under the agreement, Clique-Now, the AAPI-focused department of Gushcloud, founded by Mylen Yamamoto, will lead U.S. management for He. Gushcloud International will oversee the development, expansion, and global licensing of He’s intellectual properties, including “Emotional Damage.” His longtime manager, AJ Nubla, will remain part of the arrangement.
He has accumulated more than 32.7 million followers across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat. His content centers on cultural identity, generational dynamics, and the Asian immigrant experience, anchored by his “Asian Dad” character and “Emotional Damage” sketches. He also operates one of the most-watched long-form comedy sketch channels on YouTube by views per upload.
Expansion Plans
The partnership will extend He’s content across platforms and formats, deepen brand collaborations, and grow his international audience. He cited plans to move into cinematic, short-form, and vertical storytelling.
“My work in sketch comedy was able to reach a global audience by connecting our cultural experiences through humor,” He said. “We’re entering the most exciting time of expansion, and I’m grateful to have Gushcloud and Clique-Now as my partners as we expand into new content fields, including cinematic, short form, and vertical storytelling.”
AJ Nubla, talent manager at Gushcloud International, described the partnership’s focus as growing He’s audience while preserving the qualities that define his work.
“Steven has built a global audience by turning very specific cultural experiences into something universally relatable,” Nubla said. “Our focus is to help him grow that audience further while staying true to what makes his work distinctive.”
Althea Lim, group CEO and co-founder of Gushcloud International, addressed the company’s goals for the partnership. “Steven represents the next generation of creators who have already proven their ability to connect at scale,” Lim said. “We’re focused on supporting his creative vision and expanding his global reach.”
