YouTube creator iShowSpeed is set to star in an anime-style series in development at Big Shot Pictures, the production company founded by former co-CEO of Paramount Global Brian Robbins, according to Variety.

Matt Owens, who served as co-showrunner on the first two seasons of Netflix’s “One Piece” before stepping away from that project in 2025, will write and produce the series alongside Robbins. Filmmaker and actor Harmony Korine is also attached as a producer. 

The series will introduce an animated character based on iShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr. Specific plot details have not been disclosed.

“I’ve always loved anime, so being able to create something like this is a dream come true for me,” Watkins said in a statement. “The team behind this project is incredibly talented, and I can’t wait for my fans around the world to see what we’re building together.”

“Speed is a one-of-a-kind creative force whose ability to connect with audiences transcends borders and platforms,” Robbins stated.

Robbins launched Big Shot Pictures earlier this year following his exit from Paramount Global after the Paramount-Skydance merger in August 2025. The company holds a first-look theatrical distribution deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment and has secured backing from investors including Greycroft, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and CAA.

Watkins, 21, has accumulated more than 52 million YouTube subscribers through content spanning sports, gaming, music videos, and travel. He took home “Streamer of the Year” honors at both the 2024 and 2025 Streamer Awards. The anime project marks one of his first narrative-driven ventures.

The announcement arrives as anime intellectual property continues to attract YouTube creators. In February, MrBeast launched a limited-edition merchandise collaboration with “Naruto Shippuden” in partnership with VIZ Media.
