Comedy Podcast Network Headgum Lands Exclusive Hulu Distribution Deal For ‘We’re Here To Help’
Headgum has announced a licensing agreement with Hulu for the comedy podcast “We’re Here to Help” with Jake Johnson and Gareth Reynolds. The show will stream on Hulu starting February 10, with twice-weekly releases, marking the streamer’s first podcast licensing deal.
Under the agreement, Hulu receives streaming rights to the podcast’s existing catalog and all new episodes. New content will drop exclusively on Hulu one day before appearing on the podcast’s relaunched YouTube channel. Episodes will be released on Sundays and Tuesdays on Hulu, with subsequent availability on audio platforms and YouTube after the early release window.
The first new episode features actor Lamorne Morris as a guest. Johnson, known for starring as Nick Miller in “New Girl,” hosts the advice podcast alongside Reynolds.
Podcast Background and Format
“We’re Here to Help” has operated for three years, featuring Johnson and Reynolds offering advice to callers through comedic banter. The show’s guest roster includes Johnson’s “New Girl” castmates Morris, Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone, Max Greenfield, and Damon Wayans Jr., along with Dakota Fanning, Jimmy Kimmel, Justin Long, Judd Apatow, Nikki Glaser, Dax Shepard, and Kal Penn.
“Jake and Gareth have amassed such an incredible fanbase over the years, and we’re looking forward to sharing We’re Here to Help with an even broader audience,” said Kaiti Moos, Vice President of Content at Headgum.
Johnson revealed that the podcast began during the actors’ strike, via Zoom, as an independent project. “Licensing to a streamer was never even a thought, so getting to partner with Headgum and Hulu to bring it to more people is pretty surreal,” he said.
The deal follows Hulu’s launch of companion video podcasts this fall for shows including “Only Murders in the Building,” “Paradise,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” available on both Hulu and Disney+.
