Visa, TikTok Launch UK’s First Creator Debit Card to Address Cash Flow Gaps Among LIVE Streamers

Visa and TikTok have introduced a debit card and business account product for TikTok LIVE creators in the United Kingdom, targeting a segment the companies say faces persistent cash flow and payment infrastructure challenges.

The “Creator Card” gives TikTok LIVE creators faster access to earnings generated through the platform’s virtual gifting system. During a TikTok LIVE broadcast, viewers can send creators digital gifts that convert into virtual diamonds, which creators exchange for cash payouts. Those payouts typically arrive in irregular bursts rather than on a fixed schedule, creating short-term gaps between earning and spending.

The new product allows creators to access those funds and spend them straight away, without waiting for payouts to clear through a traditional bank account. Visa and TikTok position the card as a tool for separating business and personal finances, a distinction most UK creators currently lack.

Research Highlights Financial Strain

Visa commissioned Censuswide to survey 1,000 professional content creators across multiple UK social media platforms between March and June 2025. The findings document widespread financial pressure: 49% of respondents reported that late or inconsistent payments had affected their ability to run their business, 41% said cash flow issues forced them to turn down new opportunities, and 37% reported that payment delays caused stress or anxiety.

The survey also found that 86% of creator-run businesses are self-funded and 62% rely on personal bank accounts for business transactions, figures consistent with earlier global research Visa conducted with Morning Consult across five markets in 2025.

“We are incredibly excited to launch the UK Creator Card with TikTok to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs in the digital economy,” said Lucy Demery, SVP and Head of Visa Commercial Solutions, Europe. “By simplifying access to funds, we’re helping creators manage cash flow with confidence, so they can stay focused on what they do best.”

Paula D’Urbano, Country Manager for TikTok LIVE in the UK, Ireland, and Baltics, said the partnership extends tools available to the platform’s creator community. “By partnering with Visa, we’re giving the LIVE community even more ways to manage their rewards, helping creators to turn their passion into a sustainable career.”

Broader Context

The launch follows Visa’s November 2025 announcement of a separate partnership with Karat Financial to pilot an AI-powered creator agent program in the U.S. in 2026. That initiative focuses on automated payment management, late invoice reminders, and brand deal evaluation tools. Visa estimates there are approximately 200 million creators worldwide, with the sector projected to reach $500 billion by 2027.

Mastercard launched its own creator-focused Business Builder debit and credit card products in February 2025, and several fintech companies, including Willa, Collective, Tipalti, and Lumanu, now target the same segment.
