TikTok Now Lets Users Book Hotels, Pays Creators To Promote Them

TikTok launched a direct hotel booking feature through a partnership with Booking.com, allowing users to reserve accommodations without leaving the app. The integration enables travelers to enter check-in and check-out dates and book available rooms at specific properties directly through TikTok’s interface.

According to a Business Insider report, each hotel features a dedicated landing page displaying prices, amenities, reviews, nearby attractions, and related TikTok videos about the property. Users can also tag hotels in their own content, creating a seamless connection between discovery and booking.

Alongside the booking feature, TikTok introduced “TikTok Go,” a monetization program allowing local merchants, including hotels, to pay creators a commission or offer vouchers for promoting their businesses. The program requires creators to have at least 1,000 followers, be 18 or older, and maintain an account in good standing.

Participating creators can set their location and access a list of tasks from hotels and other venues such as restaurants. By completing these tasks, like posting promotional videos, creators earn commissions when they drive sales.

E-Commerce Strategy Expands

The hotel booking functionality aligns with TikTok’s broader strategy to increase e-commerce activity within its platform. The company has heavily invested in TikTok Shop and developed various Yelp-style features for local businesses, consistently leveraging influencers to promote products in exchange for sales commissions.

Travel creator Amanda Dishman, who runs the family blog “Salty Vagabonds,” told Business Insider that TikTok Go has “slashed in half” the barrier to entry for earning commissions, making it “accessible to a lot more people.”

TikTok has also enhanced its travel discovery features with a “Places” tab for users to find new destinations and activities. Users can leave reviews and earn badges as “local explorers,” further cementing TikTok’s position as a popular search tool, particularly among Gen Z users.

This development follows TikTok’s earlier features enabling users to book concert and movie tickets from videos through partnerships with Ticketmaster, Fandango, and other providers.
