Fan Spotlight: The New Way Billie Eilish Is Connecting With 60 Million Fans On TikTok

TikTok is launching Fan Spotlight, a new feature that allows artists to showcase their favorite fan videos on their music tab. Superstar Billie Eilish premiered Fan Spotlight as part of her #HITMEHARDANDSOFT takeover on TikTok to promote her new album of the same name.

With Fan Spotlight, artists can pin up to five of their favorite fan videos to the top of their music tab for up to seven days at a time. The creator receives a notification when a video is selected as a Fan Spotlight. The pinned videos are prominently displayed in the artist’s music tab and in the For You feed.

Eilish joined TikTok in 2020 and has amassed over 60 million followers to date, accumulating more than 310 million likes across her content. According to the platform’s announcement, over 7.3 million videos have been created using the #billieeilish hashtag by fans. Her song “What Was I Made For?” has resulted in 1.4 million creator videos, while “Therefore I Am” has inspired more than 1.5 million fan videos.

As part of the #HITMEHARDANDSOFT takeover, fans can curate playlists, participate in challenges to unlock exclusive artwork, and have their videos featured by being selected for Fan Spotlight. The new feature is now available for all artists on TikTok.

“Fan Spotlight is an innovative new feature allowing artists to highlight their favorite fan videos on their profile and feed,” Ollie Wards, TikTok’s Director of Music for Australia and New Zealand, stated in the announcement.
