TikTok Adds YouTube Music Integration For Easier Song Saving
TikTok announced that YouTube Music has joined its “Add to Music App” feature, enabling users to save songs discovered on TikTok directly to their YouTube Music playlists. This integration marks another expansion of TikTok’s music discovery ecosystem, which has generated over one billion track saves since its global launch in 2024.
The “Add to Music App” feature displays an “Add Song” button next to track names at the bottom of TikTok videos in the For You Feed. Users can select YouTube Music as their preferred streaming service, which then becomes the default destination for future track saves. Saved tracks appear in a dedicated “TikTok Songs” playlist on YouTube Music.
“Add to Music App continues to deliver real results for the music industry, with hundreds of millions of track saves translating into billions of streams on music streaming services,” said Tracy Gardner, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, in the announcement. “By partnering with YouTube Music, we’re expanding this impact globally, helping artists reach new audiences while giving fans a seamless way to engage with the music they discover on TikTok.”
Key Timing for YouTube Music Partnership
The integration comes as recent research indicates YouTube’s dominant position in music consumption among younger demographics. According to a recent study by Precise TV and Giraffe Insights, 79% of American teenagers report listening to music on video-sharing sites, with YouTube being the primary platform.
This partnership follows TikTok’s recent integration of other streaming services into the “Add to Music App” feature, including SoundCloud in May 2025 and Deezer in December 2024.
The platform’s influence on music industry metrics continues to grow, with 84% of songs entering the Billboard Global 200 in 2024 achieving viral status on TikTok before charting. TikTok users spend 48% more time streaming music than average U.S. listeners and are 68% more likely to subscribe to paid streaming services.
Users can access the YouTube Music integration immediately by selecting it when using the “Add Song” button, or by changing their preferred music streaming service in TikTok’s Settings and Privacy section.
