Amazon To Double Influencer Commissions For Extended Four-Day Prime Day Event

Amazon is increasing commission rates for influencers across 13 product categories from July 1 through July 20, coinciding with the extension of Prime Day from two to four days (July 8-11).

According to ADWEEK, commissions for beauty and grooming, business supplies, and power tools are doubling from 3% to 6%, while jewelry rates increase from 4% to 8%. Premium beauty products see rates rise from 10% to 12.5%, according to Amazon’s influencer program page.

The commission increases come as Amazon continues expanding its Creator Connections program, which links influencers with brands through the Affiliate+ self-service advertising system.

“Amazon offers a variety of creator incentives during and around Prime Day, as well as during other key shopping moments throughout the year,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. “Some of these incentives include increases on the standard rate card, bounties, and gift cards.”

Creators view the higher rates as significant revenue opportunities. Lonni Smith, an Amazon-focused influencer, noted for ADWEEK that July, primarily due to Prime Day, typically represents her highest-earning month.

Extended Format Benefits

The four-day format provides creators more flexibility in content planning. Frankie Tevares, a fashion and beauty creator, plans to dedicate different days to specific product categories: fashion on day one, home links on day two, beauty on day three, and a wrap-up on the final day.

The longer event also enables creators to incorporate unboxing videos into their strategy. Kellyn McMullan, who reports earning ten times her normal Amazon revenue during Prime Day, plans to purchase products early in the event and film unboxings before the sales period ends.

Recent market research indicates that over half of U.S. social media users have made influencer-inspired purchases, with 94% of those purchases occurring on Amazon.
