SiriusXM Brings Video Podcasts to Tubi in New Distribution and Ad Revenue Deal
SiriusXM and Fox Corporation’s free streaming service Tubi announced a non-exclusive distribution and monetization agreement that will bring a selection of SiriusXM Podcast Network video content to Tubi’s 100 million monthly active users.
The deal expands SiriusXM’s video reach across connected TVs, web, and mobile devices. Tubi and SiriusXM Media, the company’s advertising division, will share advertising revenue from video podcasts on the platform.
An initial lineup of shows on Tubi will include “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” “Rotten Mango,” “The School of Greatness,” “What Now? with Trevor Noah,” “Moral of the Story,” and “The Deep 3 Podcast,” with additional titles to follow.
“In podcasting, audio has long thrived through broad distribution across platforms, helping shows grow and connect with new audiences wherever people choose to listen,” said Andrew Moss, SVP of Content Strategy and Development at SiriusXM, in a press release. Moss said the company is applying that same distribution philosophy to video, with the goal of expanding creator reach across devices.
“By bringing some of the most compelling voices in podcasting to Tubi, we’re giving creators a powerful new avenue to expand their reach and connect with viewers who are hungry for these stories,” said Rich Bloom, General Manager of Creator Programs and EVP of Business Development at Tubi.
Growing Video Podcast Distribution
More than 95% of viewing on Tubi is on demand, a dynamic that the companies cited as creating premium advertising opportunities for brands. According to the release, Tubi ranks as the second largest free AVOD service, reaching adults 18+ and streams more than a billion hours of content each month.
The Tubi agreement follows SiriusXM’s recent expansion of its advertising footprint. In April, SiriusXM Media became the exclusive U.S. audio advertising representative for YouTube, a platform where 39% of weekly podcast consumers say they most often access podcasts, per Edison Research.
The SiriusXM Podcast Network holds more positions in the top 20 podcasts than any other network, per Edison Research, and reaches one in two U.S. podcast listeners each month. Its portfolio spans entertainment, comedy, wellness, sports, true crime, and business.
