Spotify Launches 2025 Wrapped With New Features Including Listening Age, Top Albums, And AI-Powered Archive
Spotify has released its annual 2025 Wrapped campaign, introducing nearly a dozen new features alongside returning data stories that show users their listening habits across music, podcasts, and audiobooks. The streaming platform captures user activity from January through mid-November, filtering out Private Mode and background noise to focus on active listening behavior.
New Data Stories and Interactive Features
The 2025 edition added several first-time features to the Wrapped experience.
Top Albums spotlights the albums users returned to repeatedly throughout the year, marking the first time Spotify has highlighted album-level listening in Wrapped. Listening Age compares users’ musical tastes to others in their age group by analyzing the release years of their most-played tracks.
The platform introduces an AI-powered Listening Archive feature that provides up to five personalized snapshots of users’ most active streaming days. The feature launches in English in select markets. Fan Leaderboard shows users where they rank among an artist’s global listeners based on total minutes streamed, while Top Artist Sprint visualizes how users’ top five artists shifted in monthly rankings throughout the year.
Spotify adds a Top Song Quiz that lets users guess which track dominated their listening and expands creator messages beyond musicians. Users may receive clips from podcast hosts including Steven Bartlett from “The Diary of a CEO,” Mel Robbins from “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” and Amy Poehler from “Good Hang.”
Authors like Dan Brown, James Patterson, and Abby Jimenez also appear in the experience.
Social Features and User Controls
The company launched Wrapped Party, an interactive feature that lets users share their year in music with friends in real time. The feature appears at the end of personalized experiences and in the Wrapped hub within the Spotify mobile app. Users can share individual data cards directly through Spotify Messages or to external social platforms.
Spotify added new playback controls that let users adjust the speed of their Wrapped experience and revisit specific moments without restarting from the beginning. The platform requires users to have streamed at least 30 songs for more than 30 seconds each and listened to at least five different artists to receive a personalized experience.
Platform-Wide Listening Trends
“The Joe Rogan Experience” maintains its position as the top podcast on Spotify in the United States for 2025, followed by “This Past Weekend” with Theo Von and “The Mel Robbins Podcast.”
Video podcasts make up a significant portion of the top 50, with 23 shows distributing video episodes on the platform.
The Wrapped feed consolidates all 2025 content at the top of users’ home screens, including personalized data stories, editor-curated playlists, and creator messages. The experience remains available to both free and premium users in nearly all markets where Spotify operates through the iOS and Android mobile apps.
Physical Activations and Creator Tools
Spotify plans approximately 50 pop-up experiences in cities around the world, featuring artists including Oasis in Manchester, JENNIE in Seoul, Bad Bunny in Mexico City, and Chappell Roan in New York City.
The company provides separate Wrapped microsites for artists, songwriters, podcast creators, authors, and advertisers to analyze their audience engagement data.
The platform calculates Top Songs based on total streams, while Top Artists and Top Podcasts reflect listening frequency. Minutes Listened includes time spent across all content types. Top Genres are based on the genres users stream most frequently, and Top Audiobook Genre highlights the category with the highest listening time, along with the most-played book from that category.
