Manychat Earns WhatsApp Technical Certification From Meta

Manychat has earned WhatsApp Technical Certification from Meta, the company announced on LinkedIn. The designation marks a renewal of the certification the automation platform first received following its WhatsApp integration launch in 2022.

“This once again confirms our commitment to providing reliable and advanced WhatsApp solutions to our customers,” the company wrote in the post.

Meta’s WhatsApp Technical Certification validates a platform’s expertise in implementing and managing the WhatsApp Business Platform. Requirements include developing technical plans, configuring webhooks and APIs, managing message templates, troubleshooting errors, and demonstrating compliance with security best practices during Meta’s app review process.

Achieving advanced “Tech Partner” status also requires high conversation volumes and demonstrated client onboarding capabilities.

Manychat launched its WhatsApp integration in May 2022 following a beta phase, during which CEO Mike Yan noted a 70% rise in customer interest. The company’s broader relationship with Meta dates to October 2020. Manychat also powers automation for Instagram direct messages through its existing Meta partnership.

Implications for Users

The certified status allows Manychat users to build automations using Meta-vetted WhatsApp solutions. Practical applications include lead qualification, FAQ automation, Customer Relationship Management integrations, and 24-hour re-engagement via approved message templates. Users must still follow WhatsApp’s policies, including template approvals, and complete business verification to access inbound and outbound messaging flows.

The platform automatically captures and processes incoming messages, including voice notes, without requiring manual intervention outside business hours.

Manychat stated it plans to continue developing the integration to support customer growth “automatically and at scale.”

Manychat has approximately 1.5 million customers across 170 countries, with clients including Nike, The New York Times, and Yahoo, as well as individual creators and small businesses. In April 2025, the company raised $140 million in a Series B round led by Summit Partners, with plans to invest in R&D, including expanded AI capabilities, and grow its sales, marketing, and support operations globally.
