Macao’s Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) has launched the “MARCA✦MACAU Macao Signature” initiative, a program designed to certify local brands and livestream influencers and support their entry into overseas markets through cross-border e-commerce and promotional partnerships.
The launch took place at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Cooperation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, drawing more than 100 representatives from the business community and cross-border e-commerce platforms.
Applications are open through June 30.
Eligibility and Selection
The program covers two categories: products and services. Original Macao brand enterprises and livestream influencers are both eligible to apply. Products labeled “Made in Macao” or “Designed in Macao” qualify even if manufactured elsewhere, and brands produced in the Greater Bay Area through original equipment manufacturing are also eligible, according to Lo Tsz Man, Director of the External Trade Division of the DSEDT.
A review committee composed of the bureau and industry associations will select up to 20 enterprises and 10 livestream influencers in the first round, with results expected in October. Selection criteria for companies include brand strength, production capacity, and overseas market feasibility. For influencers, the bureau evaluates experience, conduct, and public image.
Prior Cross-Border Activity
The DSEDT cited several prior promotional efforts. During May and June 2025, 20 Macao SMEs joined the 2025 Beijing Live-Streaming E-Commerce Shopping Festival, where a dedicated “Macau Good Products” zone drew 3,000 views within its first two days.
A July 2025 traceability livestream near Lisbon facilitated nearly 6,000 transactions, while an April trip to Lisbon and Porto generated approximately 9,000 transactions. In March, nine enterprise representatives explored cross-border e-commerce opportunities in Malaysia.
The “Macao Signature” logo has been registered as a trademark in both Macao and mainland China. The bureau plans to reopen applications annually, subject to adjustment based on results.
“Today is our starting point,” said DSEDT Deputy Director Cheang Hio Man. “Going forward, we will strengthen both domestic and international promotion for ‘Macao Signature,’ hoping to build a platform that allows the selected Macao New Signature brands to shine with their unique brilliance.”
