X has published the eligibility criteria and mechanics for its Original Content Rewards Program, the monetization system replacing Creator Revenue Sharing, which stopped accepting new members on August 7 and pays out to existing participants for the last time in mid-September.

Under the new program, creators earn payouts based on qualified impressions, defined as unique views from X Premium subscribers on the Home Timeline where at least 50% of a post is visible. Impressions from paid or promoted posts, repeat views from the same account, and fraudulent activity do not count toward payouts.

To qualify, creators must be at least 18 years old, hold an active X Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business subscription, and have logged at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users and 500 verified followers in the trailing 90 days. Applicants must also have a Personal or Business Account in good standing; political and government accounts are not eligible.

X defines original content broadly, including commentary and analysis on news or cultural moments, but excludes copied or minimally modified posts, content reuploaded from other platforms, and material that aggregates other creators’ work without adding meaningful perspective. Posts focused solely on monetization discussion or coaching are also ineligible for payouts.

Transition Timeline

Creators currently enrolled in Revenue Sharing will continue earning through September 7 and will receive three final payouts: two on the standard schedule of August 14 and August 28, and a final payout around September 11 covering earnings through the cutoff date. Starting September 8, X will begin rolling out access for existing Revenue Sharing members to apply to the Original Content Rewards Program, provided they meet the new eligibility requirements. Accounts with monetization currently paused for a prior policy violation are not eligible to apply.

Payouts under the new program are issued every two weeks, with a $30 minimum threshold. X said it will issue a 1099-NEC tax form to individual creators and collect W-9 information from creators operating as an LLC. The program is available in more than 100 countries, according to X’s documentation, though eligibility still requires creators to be based in one of the listed markets.
