Adobe Introduces AI Tool To Help Video Creators Build A First Cut Faster
Adobe has introduced Quick Cut, a new feature within its Firefly generative AI suite designed to help video creators assemble a structured first cut from uploaded or AI-generated footage. The company positions the tool as a solution for creators who need to move quickly from raw clips to an editable timeline.
Firefly, Adobe’s all-in-one creative AI studio, incorporates AI models from Adobe, Google, OpenAI, and Runway alongside its own creative tools. The platform’s video editor features a multi-track interface, and Quick Cut builds on that foundation by automating the assembly step.

How Quick Cut Works
To use Quick Cut, creators upload their footage and provide a text description of the intended video, whether an interview, product demo, day-in-the-life video, or travel vlog. Firefly uses that description to generate a narrative-first assembly. Users can also supply a shot list or script for more precise output.
Up-front configuration options include selecting an aspect ratio, choosing between automatic pacing or a specific duration, and adding an optional B-roll track. Adobe says the tool is suited to a range of professional use cases: product reviewers can upload unboxing footage and have Quick Cut follow their narration; reporters can use it to surface key moments in interviews; podcasters can apply it to long-form conversations; and marketers can use it to organize event recap footage into a structured starting point.
The feature also supports image-to-video generation, enabling creators to bring still images into motion before bringing them into the editor alongside existing footage.

Creator Reactions
YouTuber Brandon Baum described using Firefly as a tool for rapid iteration: “I use Adobe Firefly as a thought starter. I like to generate a few things, iterate on my ideas quickly, try, try, try, fail fast, and hopefully find the gold. Then I use its various generation tools as I build out my timeline to create visual frames, soundtracks, and transitions.”
Podcaster and entrepreneur Sophia Kianni cited the platform’s utility across multiple content needs: “My podcast doesn’t just need audio, it needs thumbnails and b-roll. My nonprofit needs tons of images. My startup needs marketing assets. Firefly helps with all of it and more, supercharging my team to work faster and get even more creative.”
