Samsung TV Plus Launches Fearne Cotton, JOE Media, and Golf Life Channels as Part of International Creator Expansion
Samsung TV Plus, the subscription-free streaming service built into Samsung Smart TVs, has added new creator-led channels in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, while also extending its existing Mark Rober TV channel into Brazil and Mexico, according to the company’s announcement.
In the UK, Samsung TV Plus partnered with 208 Studios to launch three channels: “Happy Place,” built around Fearne Cotton’s podcast interviews and drawing on her more than 15 million followers across social media; “Golf Life,” a golf and comedy channel from Tubes, Ange and Jimmy Bullard with a combined following of more than 3 million; and JOE Media, which the company describes as one of the UK’s leading millennial news and entertainment brands, with more than 30 million followers across platforms.
Across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, Samsung TV Plus launched “Luke Nguyen’s World,” a first-to-FAST channel featuring more than 95 episodes across nine series starring the Australian-Vietnamese chef and television presenter, whose programming has aired in more than 150 countries.
In Brazil and Mexico, the platform expanded Mark Rober TV, the dedicated science and engineering channel built around the former NASA engineer, whose combined social following exceeds 79 million. The channel runs dubbed programming around the clock in the two markets. Samsung TV Plus first launched Mark Rober TV last November in the United States, Canada, Australia, and several European markets, including Germany, Spain, and the UK.
“The Creator Economy is no longer a trend – it’s a global phenomenon that’s reshaping how audiences discover and engage with content,” said Salek Brodsky, SVP and Global Head of Samsung TV Plus. “Samsung TV Plus has been at the forefront of that evolution, giving the world’s leading digital storytellers a global platform to grow their brands, while expanding their reach to millions of viewers in a true television environment.”
The new channels join a roster that already includes Dhar Mann, Michelle Khare, The Try Guys and Smosh, among others. Samsung TV Plus has also moved beyond hosting existing creator catalogs into original production, commissioning Dhar Mann Studios to produce the scripted anthology series “Unlikely Romances” earlier this year, its first creator-led original for the platform. Samsung TV Plus reports more than 100 million monthly active users worldwide.
