TikTok Adds Movie Ticket Buying Through Fandango

TikTok has partnered with Fandango to allow users to purchase movie tickets directly within the app, marking the platform’s first movie ticketing integration powered by TikTok Spotlight. The feature debuts with Disney’s “TRON: Ares,” scheduled for theatrical release on October 10.

The integration displays a “Get Tickets” button on movie-related in-app hubs, connecting users to Fandango’s ticketing system where they can select seats and complete purchases without leaving TikTok.

“This Fandango integration seamlessly connects the magic of discovery on TikTok with real-world moviegoing,” Isaac Bess, Global Head of Distribution Partnerships at TikTok, said in the announcement. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Fandango, enhancing fan engagement and giving audiences a seamless path from discovery to the big screen.”

Claire Ripsteen, SVP of Marketing & Partnerships at Fandango, describes the partnership as “a powerful step in meeting audiences in their daily digital lives, making it easier to turn the excitement of discovering a movie into the instant gratification of securing tickets in advance.”

TikTok reports that nearly 50% of U.S. users discover new theatrical releases on the platform, with 36% inspired to take action. The partnership capitalizes on TikTok’s growing #FilmTok community, where users connect over shared movie interests.

Expanding E-Commerce Features

The Fandango integration follows TikTok’s broader strategy to increase e-commerce activity within its platform. Earlier this year, TikTok launched direct hotel booking through Booking.com and introduced “TikTok Go,” a program allowing local merchants to pay creators commissions for promotional content.

The company has also enhanced its travel discovery features and previously established partnerships with Ticketmaster for concert ticket sales.

“TRON: Ares,” starring Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, Evan Peters, and Greta Lee, serves as the launch title for this new ticketing capability, with Fandango promising to expand the feature to additional films soon.
