Snapchat Announces Inaugural Snappys Awards Show, Names Matt Friend As Host

Snapchat has announced The Snappys Awards Show, its first flagship awards program dedicated to recognizing creators on the platform. The event is scheduled for March 31 at Snapchat’s Santa Monica headquarters. Comedian Matt Friend will host the evening, bringing his comedic style to the show.

The show will honor creators (referred to as “Snap Stars”) across entertainment, comedy, music, sports, beauty, and additional verticals. Award categories include “Spotlight MVP,” “Best Storyteller,” and “Breakout Creator of the Year,” as well as honors in fashion, beauty, sports, music, food, and games. Additional categories will recognize collaboration, comedy, and cultural impact.

Snapchat will present DJ Khaled with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” to recognize his cultural impact as a creator, artist, and entrepreneur.

“Snapchat has always been the place where I can be completely myself – it’s where some of the most creative, original voices are building real communities every single day,” Friend said. “I’ve grown up on this platform, so getting to host The Snappys Awards Show and celebrate the creators who are shaping comedy, music, sports, and everything in between feels full circle. It’s going to be a night that’s very Snapchat: unexpected, unfiltered, and all about Snap Stars.”

Jim Shepherd, Head of Content Partnerships at Snapchat, framed the awards show as part of a broader strategy to invest in its creator community.

“The Snappys Awards Show is a reflection of how powerful the creator community on Snapchat has become,” Shepherd said. “The Snap Stars we’re honoring aren’t just entertaining audiences – they’re driving conversations, building businesses, and shaping culture. This show represents our long-term commitment to giving creators meaningful recognition and real opportunity as they continue to define what’s next.”

Snapchat is the latest social media platform to launch its own awards celebration. In the fall of 2025, Instagram launched “Rings,” an awards program honoring 25 of its top creators with both physical and digital rings. TikTok held its inaugural U.S. show in December, giving 14 awards to top creators in a live show at the Hollywood Palladium.

Snapchat has not yet disclosed nominees or a full list of honorees. The company stated that additional details will be announced in the weeks leading up to the March 31 event.
