Peter Sellis, the first Product Manager at Snapchat, has been appointed to lead product at X, according to a Firstpost report. He replaces Nikita Bier, who stepped down from the role after a little over a year.

Sellis announced the move on X. “I’m joining the team at @X to lead Product,” he wrote. He also voiced support for SpaceX’s mission to extend human consciousness beyond Earth, adding that it was time to make “shitposting multiplanetary.”

Sellis said his priority would be to build on the platform’s recent momentum and make it more useful for its existing community, new users and businesses worldwide. He described X as a place to discover what is happening around the world and discuss it, and acknowledged the work the team has done to improve the service. “We are twenty years in, but it truly feels like X’s next chapter will be our greatest,” he wrote, inviting users to share ideas and feedback.

Sellis spent seven years at Snapchat as its first Product Manager, working on a consumer product that became central to how people share photos and videos. He later joined Discord, where he served as head of product and helped drive user growth. His experience also includes roles at Microsoft and Ustream.

Bier took over as X’s Head of Product in 2025. He announced his departure from the position and said he would continue working with the company in an advisory capacity. “Time to pass the torch and demote myself to my natural state: a poster,” Bier wrote in his farewell post.

Elon Musk, the owner of the platform, thanked Bier for his contribution. “Thanks for helping make this platform much better! You will be missed,” Musk wrote.
