Smosh Is Launching A Live Improvised Medical Comedy Event, ‘Smosh Hospital’
Smos h announced its next digital livestream event, a 90-minute improvised medical drama parody scheduled for January 16, 2026.
“Smosh Hospital” employs a double-cast system in which the lead doctor and nurse roles are played by two actors each, according to Variety. The primary actor performs until they break character or make a mistake, at which point their replacement takes over. The format positions doctor characters attempting to maintain dramatic performances while patient characters work to disrupt them through improvisation.
Tommy Bowe and Arasha Lalani portray Doctor Boone, while Courtney Miller and Shayne Topp play Nurse O’Connell. Ian Hecox and Angela Giarratana perform as Doctor Condo, and Olivia Sui and Trevor Evarts appear as Doctor Green.
Additional cast members Amanda Lehan-Canto, Anthony Padilla, Chanse McCrary, Damien Haas, Keith Leak, Noah Grossman, and Spencer Agnew make special appearances as patients and medical professionals.
Creative director Shayne Topp describes the production as “undoubtedly the most ambitious project I’ve ever worked on,” stating, “I have honestly no idea what’s going to happen, but that’s the fun of it,” according to Variety.
Business Strategy
As Smosh CEO Alessandra Catanese tells Variety, “Our live shows have been so well received and ‘Smosh Hospital’ leans even further into what makes Smosh, Smosh. It’s a core part of our expanded strategy to deliver fun, immersive experiences that bring our community together.”
The event builds on “Smosh: The Sitcom Live!” with a larger cast and more unpredictable setups, according to Smosh.
Smosh was founded in 2005 by Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox. The duo separated in 2017, and Rhett & Link’s Mythical Entertainment acquired Smosh in 2019. Hecox and Padilla reacquired control in 2023, with Mythical retaining a minority stake. The company positions itself as the internet’s longest-running digital sketch comedy brand.
The show streams exclusively on Smosh’s website at 7 p.m. PST on Friday, January 16. Tickets include access to last year’s “Smosh: The Sitcom Live!”
