Meta Secures Ad Safety Certifications Amid Misinformation Review

Meta has received renewed accreditation from the Media Ratings Council (MRC) for Content-Level Brand Safety across its platforms, confirming that the company’s documented processes meet industry standards for brand safety and measurement, according to Social Media Today.

The MRC certification process evaluates Meta’s systems against established benchmarks, offering third-party verification to advertisers. The accreditation confirms compliance with Minimum Standards for Media Rating Research, Enhanced Content Level Context and Brand Safety Guidelines, and Invalid Traffic Detection and Filtration Standards.

Notably, misinformation remains excluded from the current accreditation as the MRC continues to assess Meta’s Community Notes approach to content moderation.

Bolstering Advertiser Confidence

Beyond MRC accreditation, Facebook and Instagram have secured their sixth consecutive brand safety recertification from the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG).

Integral Ad Science has also launched new contextual category reporting for Meta platforms. The Total Media Quality (TMQ) system analyzes video content frame by frame, examining images, audio, and text to provide comprehensive brand safety measurement.

The MRC’s accreditation for Facebook and Instagram Feed currently applies only to English and Spanish content.

Meta replaced its fact-checking program with a “Community Notes” system in January, ending partnerships with over 90 third-party fact-checking organizations. CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated the change would reduce “accidental censorship” while focusing content moderation on “high severity violations,” including terrorism, child exploitation, and fraud.
