Kai Cenat Becomes First Twitch Streamer To Reach 1M Subscribers

Twitch streamer Kai Cenat reached one million subscribers on Sunday, September 28, becoming the first creator to achieve this milestone on the platform. Cenat hit the record 27 days into his month-long “Mafiathon 3” subathon event, which began September 1.

The 23-year-old streamer surpassed the mark during a live broadcast, surrounded by friends. Cenat appeared visibly emotional as his counter flipped to the seven-digit milestone. Twitch acknowledged the achievement on social media, posting: “Chat, he did it. 1 million subs in 27 days. Congrats @KaiCenat. Legendary.”

“I started off the year not even knowing what the f*** I’m about to do after ‘Mafiathon 2,'” Cenat said during his stream, reflecting on his 2025 journey. He later posted on X: “STARTING 2025 I WAS A LITTLE LOST AND DIDN’T KNOW HOW IT WAS GONNA GO BUT FAST FORWARD AND NOW IM HERE 1,000,000 SUBS THANK YOU GOD❤️GOAL IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETE.”

Star-Studded Subathon

Cenat announced “Mafiathon 3” with a “Scarface”-inspired trailer featuring actor Michael B. Jordan, describing it as the final installment in his trilogy of record-breaking subathons. Throughout the event, Cenat hosted several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Ray J, and Snoop Dogg, who is said to have contributed 46,000 or more gifted subscriptions.

The subathon will continue through the end of September, giving Cenat additional time to extend his record further.

Cenat’s achievement comes as Twitch faces increasing pressure from competing platforms. According to Stream Hatchet’s Q2 2025 report, Twitch maintains market leadership with a 54.2% share, but recorded its lowest quarterly viewership since Q3 2020, falling below 5 billion hours watched for the first time in nearly five years.

Additional Revenue Streams

Beyond subscription revenue, Cenat recently expanded his brand presence through a “Fortnite” Icon Series skin unveiled on the Las Vegas Sphere last month. The in-game items, which include a Kai Cenat outfit featuring a red cap, white shirt, and red pants with the “AMP” text, became available on September 12 as part of a three-way collaboration between Fortnite, Cenat, and Mercedes-AMG.

Cenat’s previous “Mafiathon 2” reportedly generated approximately $3.6 million in Twitch subscription revenue alone, with total earnings potentially exceeding $20 million, including sponsorships and advertising.
