U.S. Senators Launch Bipartisan Senate Creators Caucus

Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and John Kennedy (R-LA) this week announced the launch of the Senate Creators Caucus, a bipartisan effort to give content creators a dedicated forum within the Senate to engage with lawmakers on policy affecting their businesses. The caucus follows last year’s debut of the Congressional Creators Caucus in the House, giving digital entrepreneurs a channel in both chambers of Congress.

To mark the launch, YouTube creators joined a panel discussion moderated by Dylan Wells of The Washington Post, where they discussed their business models, challenges and opportunities. Panelists included Jackie Aina, Matthew Patrick of Game Theory, Ian Schwartzman of the Joe Budden Network, Avery Smith of the Louisiana Crawfish Company, Sage Steele of The Sage Steele Show, and Mark Vins of Brave Wilderness. Also participating were Destiny Adams, Boze of BOZE vs. the WORLD, Jacklyn Dallas of The Next Big Thing, Dr. Javoris Hollingsworth of Gracie’s Corner, Dr. Judith Joseph, Shira Lazar of What’s Trending, Dr. Tracey Marks and Kati Morton.

“Content creators are more than our favorite teachers, cooks, music critics, and voices online. They are also entrepreneurs who create jobs, drive economic growth, and invest in their communities,” said Senator Booker, the caucus’s co-chair. “Creators represent a growing sector of the economy, but Congress and our laws haven’t kept up.”

Senator Kennedy, the caucus’s other co-chair, said he and Booker “started this caucus to hear directly from creators, better understand this growing part of our economy and make sure they have a voice in Congress.”

Mark Vins, CEO and co-founder of Brave Wilderness, said his channel now supports 16 full-time employees and a wider network of partners, contractors and managers, and has produced thousands of videos generating more than 6 billion views. Leslie Miller, YouTube’s Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy, said the company was “grateful to Senators Booker and Kennedy for launching the Senate Creators Caucus.”

During the same visit, creators met with congressional offices to back the NO FAKES Act, which would protect individuals from unauthorized AI-generated replicas of their voice and likeness, and urged Congress to pass the bill before its year-end adjournment. YouTube said it will continue working with the Senate Creators Caucus and with Congressional Creators Caucus co-chairs Representatives Beth Van Duyne and Yvette Clarke.
