Young Sports Content Creator From Vernon Awarded Memorial Scholarship
Kyle Clark, a senior at Rockville High School in Vernon, Connecticut, has received the Bo Kolinsky Memorial Sports Media Scholarship from the Connecticut Sports Media Alliance (CSMA). The scholarship provides $3,000 for college education.
Clark’s sports media content generates hundreds of thousands of likes and millions of views across platforms. His work encompasses photography and videography, with a focus on sports coverage. The scholarship committee recognizes Clark as a “respected young sports media content creator,” according to committee chair John Holt.
Professional Experience
Clark’s portfolio includes paid opportunities with the Albany City Rocks AAU program and national travel assignments. He covers CIAC state championship events at venues including Mohegan Sun Arena and Rentschler Field. His primary project involves a 4-part video documentary series titled “Rockville Football – Restoring the Rock,” which chronicles the school’s football program development.
The Connecticut Sports Media Alliance presents the award at the 83rd Gold Key Dinner in October. Clark plans to attend the University of Connecticut and continue sports media work.
Sports leagues and organizations are increasingly collaborating with content creators to engage younger audiences. For instance, YouTuber Kenny Beecham’s podcast, “Numbers on the Board,” produced in partnership with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, featured NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in 2024, highlighting the NBA’s embrace of digital creators.
