Tubi Expands Platform With YouTube Creator Content
Tubi has launched a new initiative to incorporate content from established YouTube creators into its free ad-supported streaming service.
According to a press release, the Fox-owned platform is introducing “Tubi for Creators,” bringing over 500 episodes from six YouTube creators, including Rhett & Link’s Mythical, Kinigra Deon, Dan and Riya, FunnyMike, Jubilee, and Watcher Entertainment.
The licensed content features shows such as Dan and Riya’s comedy series “Beverly Valley High,” FunnyMike’s “Mr. Creepy Eyes,” Jubilee’s “Odd One Out,” Mythical’s food interview show “Last Meals,” and Watcher’s “Are You Scared?” Tubi plans to add more creators and thousands of additional videos in the coming weeks.
Leadership and Strategy
Rich Bloom, former Vimeo executive, joins as General Manager of creator programs and Executive VP of business development to lead the initiative. The program builds on Tubi’s existing creator initiatives including Stubios, partnerships with Kickstarter for independent films, and collaborations with The Blacklist for screenplay submissions.
“Many creators today function like full-fledged production studios creating longer-form, episodic content that is a perfect fit for broader distribution,” Bloom said in a statement.
The expansion comes as Tubi reports reaching 100 million monthly active users. The service offers nearly 300,000 movies and TV episodes in the U.S., available free with advertisements. Fox Corporation acquired Tubi in 2020.
