TikTok Unveils AI-Powered Ad and Creator Tools at Canada Summit
TikTok announced a new round of AI-driven advertising and creator tools on October 7 at the second annual TikTok World Canada product summit.
“Every day, people come to TikTok and discover something that captures their attention, connects with them, and sparks their interest,” said Nik Djukic-Walker, GM, Global Business Solutions at TikTok Canada, in the announcement. “The product innovations we’re sharing today allow advertisers to build engaging, efficient marketing strategies that deliver business impact.”
The announcements span four areas: brand reach, creative production, campaign measurement and developer access. “TopReach Creative Sequencing” lets advertisers run a continuous narrative across TikTok’s “TopView” and “Top Feed” placements in a single buy. “Branded Buzz” is a new tool for large-scale creator collaborations designed to generate hundreds of creator videos quickly, while “Search Hubs” places brand-owned pages at the top of TikTok search results.\
On the creative side, TikTok is integrating ByteDance’s Dreamina Seedance 2.5 video model into TikTok Symphony, its AI creative suite, and adding a “Reference to Video” feature that lets advertisers prompt specific images or products into generated clips. Within TikTok One, the company’s creator-and-agency hub, a new Creator AI Search tool interprets campaign briefs and analyzes creator profiles to surface recommended talent.
TikTok’s Smart+ automated performance system is also getting new features, including “Auto Selection,” which centralizes creator content, product assets, and Symphony-generated creative and automatically selects creative expected to perform best, and an AI-powered Summary tool that evaluates campaign performance and suggests optimizations. GMV Max, the company’s TikTok Shop automation solution, is adding pro features that account for seller costs such as affiliate fees and coupons. TikTok Market Scope is expanding with three new modules covering audience funnel position, brand perception, and category-level content performance.
For developers, TikTok introduced the “TikTok Ads Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server” and a set of “TikTok Ads Skills,” both aimed at letting advertisers and developers build AI agents that handle campaign creation, performance analysis, and budget optimization directly on top of TikTok’s ad infrastructure.
The summit comes against an unsettled regulatory backdrop in Canada. In November 2024, Canada’s industry ministry ordered TikTok to wind down its Canadian business operations, citing national security concerns, though it did not restrict user access to the app. A Federal Court judge set that order aside in January this year, sending the matter back to Industry Minister Mélanie Joly for a new national security review. The review concluded in March, with Canada allowing TikTok to continue operating under new data protection and safety commitments. TikTok has said it operates offices in Toronto and Vancouver, employs hundreds of people in the country, and serves more than 14 million Canadian users.
