TikTok Expands Off-Platform Ad Network to U.S. Advertisers, Adds AI Campaign Tools Through Claude, Perplexity

TikTok is bringing its ad network beyond its own app to U.S. advertisers and opening up campaign management to third-party AI platforms, the company announced at Advertising Week New York 2026.

The “TikTok Ad Network” (TTAN) lets U.S. advertisers extend campaigns beyond TikTok to reach audiences across what the company describes as a premium network of nearly 400,000 apps worldwide. TTAN is fully integrated into TikTok Ads Manager and includes brand safety and placement controls.

Alongside the network expansion, TikTok said its “Model Context Protocol” (MCP) tool for advertisers is now available as a connector across several AI platforms and registries, including Claude, Kimi, Manus, Perplexity, Replit, Snowflake, Tencent WorkBuddy, and the IAB Tech Lab Agent Registry. Built on the open “Model Context Protocol,” the tool allows developers to build AI agents directly on top of TikTok’s ads ecosystem to plan, launch, and manage advertising workflows with fewer manual steps. TikTok said advertiser use of the MCP tool for campaign activation and management has grown more than 200% since launch, citing internal data from July through September 2026.

“The TikTok MCP is indispensable to our AI-powered campaign workflows, including how we build campaigns, upload creative, and analyze performance. TikTok is a leader in helping brands leverage AI to grow,” George Velonias, Head of Growth Marketing at Wayfair Canada, said in a blog post.

The announcements were part of a broader set of AI-powered advertiser tools TikTok unveiled at the conference, spanning commerce, lead generation, and creative automation. On the commerce side, TikTok introduced “Buy Direct,” an in-app checkout tool that lets users complete purchases from the For You feed without leaving the app, and “Shopping Assistant,” a conversational AI agent built into multiple TikTok touchpoints that provides real-time guidance on product details, shipping, sizing, and availability. The company also introduced “Agentic Leads,” an AI agent for lead generation available through TikTok Direct Message and on advertiser-owned websites.

On the creative side, TikTok is automating its “Search Ads Campaigns” through Smart+, which extends automation to keyword and creative selection in search ads buying. A related feature, “Smart+ Creative Selection,” consolidates creative sourcing, including advertiser assets, Symphony’s AI-generated creatives, and creator content, into a single approval workflow. TikTok is also expanding GMV Max, its automated ad solution for TikTok Shop sellers, to factor in costs such as affiliate commissions, coupons, and referral fees when optimizing campaigns.

“AI is transforming how advertiser content is created and scaled,” said David Kaufman, Global Head of Monetization Product Partnerships at TikTok. “With our suite of solutions, we are bringing together AI, automation, and creativity to help advertisers improve performance while reducing effort.”

TikTok cited a PF Global economic impact report published last week finding that activity on the platform helped generate $81 billion in GDP for U.S. businesses, with 54 million Americans reporting a purchase after watching a TikTok video.
