Snapchat Now Lets Users Automatically Alert Friends When They Arrive At Any Location
Snapchat has expanded its location-based notification system to let users set alerts for any destination, building on its Home Safe feature, which the platform reports has drawn more than 1 million users since launch.
The company announced that users can now configure one-time or recurring alerts for locations outside their home via the Arrival Notifications feature. The expansion provides an automated way to share arrivals at specific locations without manual messaging.

“Arrival Notifications now work for everyday moments – like letting someone know you’re back for the night while traveling, or automatically sharing when you arrive at a weekly class, practice, or meeting – without needing to remember to send a message,” the company wrote in a blog post.
How the Feature Works
Users can activate Arrival Notifications by sharing their location with selected friends through the friendship profile section. The system allows users to designate specific locations with custom names, such as “run club” or “piano lessons,” and set either one-time or recurring alerts that trigger automatically upon arrival.
Location sharing on Snap Map remains off by default. Alerts can only be sent to friends explicitly chosen by the user. One-time alerts expire after delivery or after 24 hours.
Snap Map, launched in 2017 to let users view friends’ locations and browse public content, has since expanded to include local discovery capabilities.
The timing coincides with Safer Internet Day (Feb. 10), though the company framed the expansion as a response to user adoption of the original Home Safe feature.
