Pinterest Taps Amazon, DoorDash Executives For Top Marketing And Business Roles
Pinterest has appointed two senior executives to leadership positions as the visual discovery platform advances its commerce strategy.
New Chief Marketing Officer from Amazon
Claudine Cheever joins Pinterest as Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing marketing, creative, and communications. Cheever comes from Amazon, where she served as global brand and marketing vice president and led marketing for the online retailer, including five Super Bowl campaigns. She also launched flagship AI-powered products, including Alexa, during her tenure at Amazon.
Cheever replaces Andréa Mallard, who held the CMO position for nearly seven years before joining Microsoft AI as CMO in January.
In a LinkedIn post, Cheever expressed enthusiasm for joining Pinterest for its “next chapter” while reinforcing the platform’s roots as “a place where people come to feel inspired, take action, and shop.”
First Chief Business Officer Appointment
Lee Brown assumes the newly created role of Chief Business Officer, reporting to CEO Bill Ready. Brown will oversee sales, content, advertising, product marketing, and customer-facing operations, with responsibility for accelerating Pinterest’s transition into a performance-driven advertising platform.
Brown joins from DoorDash, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer. He previously led Spotify’s global ad business, more than doubling its growth during his tenure there.
“Why Pinterest, and why now? It stands out as a place where user taste meets real intent, powered by advances in AI and performance advertising at scale. But what truly sets Pinterest apart is its belief in making the internet a more positive space for everyone,” Brown wrote on LinkedIn.
The appointments coincide with the departure of Chief Revenue Officer Bill Watkins, who has decided to leave the company after nearly 12 years. Under Watkins’ leadership, Pinterest scaled to more than $4 billion in annual revenue. He will assist with Brown’s transition and depart at the end of Q1 2026.
Platform Performance
Pinterest now reaches 600 million monthly active users and has positioned itself as a visual search and shopping destination, particularly for Gen-Z audiences. The company continues to invest in visual-first AI, including Pinterest Assistant, AI-powered board updates, and new visual search capabilities.
The platform has expanded revenue opportunities through its agreement to acquire tvScientific and content initiatives such as “Bring My Pinterest to Life.”
