MrBeast’s ‘Beast Games’ Scores Two-Season Renewal After Becoming Amazon Prime Video’s Most-Watched Unscripted Show
Prime Video renewed “Beast Games,” the competition series created and hosted by YouTuber MrBeast, for two additional seasons following its impressive performance, Amazon announced at its annual upfront presentation on May 12 in New York City.
The series, which premiered on December 19, 2024, gained 50 million viewers in just 25 days, making it Prime Video’s most-watched unscripted show ever. According to MrBeast, the show reached the number one spot in more than 50 countries, including major markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India.
“MrBeast achieved a significant milestone for our global Prime Video customers, bringing to life the largest reality competition series ever,” stated Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, in an announcement.
The first season featured 1,000 contestants competing for a $10 million prize, setting a new benchmark in reality television. Player 831, Jeffrey Randall Allen, won the grand prize after selecting the correct briefcase in a final game of chance, which doubled the original $5 million prize.
During production, “Beast Games” broke 44 Guinness World Records, including most participants in a single reality show season, most people eliminated in one episode, and the largest cash prize awarded in a competition show.
Production Challenges
The ambitious scale of the production reportedly presented logistical challenges. According to earlier reports from July 2024, during preliminary filming in Las Vegas, some participants experienced medical issues, including dehydration. MrBeast’s representative stated that water, electrolyte drinks, and medical staff were available on-site.
In September 2024, five anonymous participants filed a lawsuit against MrBeast and Amazon, alleging unsafe conditions, unpaid labor, and harassment during production. The lawsuit claimed contestants faced surveillance, restricted privacy, and insufficient meals.
Future Plans
Casting for season two opened in March 2025, requiring applicants to be at least 18 years old and possess a valid passport through January 2026.
“Our goal was to deliver the biggest, boldest competition series ever created, and the response has exceeded every expectation,” stated Jeff Housenbold, CEO of MrBeast Industries. “We’re excited to raise the bar even higher in the next two seasons.”
Season 1 of “Beast Games” is available to watch exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
