How Paula Bruno Is Building Systems To Measure Real Influence At Intuition Media Group
As influencer marketing matures into an industry driven by data, Paula Bruno is steering Intuition Media Group toward what she calls “discernment,” a strategy that blends cultural insight with measurable outcomes. As CEO of the 100% women-owned agency founded in 2008 in NYC, Bruno has helped major brands, including TikTok, CanonUSA, Hyundai, Washington Prime Group and FCBNY navigate the shift from one-off influencer campaigns to long-term, influence-enabled marketing systems.
“We’re moving beyond one-and-done influencer activations,” says Paula. “We call it influence-enabled marketing – helping brands every step of the way, from strategy and creative to paid media and experiential.”
Paula believes the creator economy has reached a turning point, what CreatorIQ describes as ‘the era of efficacy.’ “With so much money being invested – influencer marketing spend is up 171%, brands will have to prove impact,” she says.
That shift means moving beyond superficial engagement metrics that often fail to capture real influence. “Too many brands still focus on vanity metrics,” Paula says. “They’re optimizing for views or shallow engagement, numbers that don’t show real connection.”
Intuition Media Group’s programs are built to measure something deeper. “When we review a creator’s post, we analyze the comments,” Bruno explains. “We look for real conversations, signs that people care about what’s being shared.”
This approach, rooted in measurable engagement and cultural resonance, defines the agency’s vision for the future of creator partnerships, focusing less on reach and more on relevance.
Building Systems, Not Campaigns
Guided by a clear strategic vision, Intuition Media Group brings a nuanced understanding of how influence truly works—an insight shaped by more than 15 years of hands-on experience leading in the creator economy.
“Our vision has shifted from managing campaigns to helping clients build influencer systems,” Paula says. “We help brands think more strategically about how influencers drive culture, how to enter that culture in a way that feels organic and genuine.”
These systems rely on selecting the right creators, not just those with large followings. Paula says her team looks for “creators who can move their community. Those with super fans who influence buying behavior. Not every creator can do that.”
This expertise has enabled Intuition Media Group to build infrastructure that scales effectively. “Whether it’s 10 or 100 creators across markets, every activation should feel locally relevant and on-brand,” Paula says. Combined with deep industry relationships, she adds, this scalable model provides clients with both depth and operational breadth.

Episodic Content and Live Commerce
As the creator economy grows, Paula has identified two major growth areas: episodic storytelling and live commerce.
“Episodic content is powerful because it’s storytelling,” she says. “It drives engagement and anticipation. When people expect the next chapter, they come back.” This approach turns isolated brand mentions into ongoing narratives that match how modern audiences consume content.
Even more significant is the potential of live commerce, which Paula has been exploring through TikTok Live selling. While still emerging in Western markets, she sees major opportunity in this format. “There’s so much detail, even warming up the influencer’s algorithm matters,” Paula says. “TikTok’s live shopping algorithm is completely different from its regular one.”
According to her, the results can be surprising. “A creator with 5 million followers might not sell anything, while someone with 100,000 can drive big results on TikTok Live,” Paula notes.
She views this shift as a transformation of the creator-audience relationship. “That’s where we’re headed,” Paula says. “And brands should embrace it. The compensation model is shifting, often starting commission-based, with new hybrid models emerging.”
Owning the Audience
As platforms grow more crowded, Paula emphasizes the importance of creators owning their audiences and building direct relationships beyond algorithm-driven feeds.
“Platforms are noisy, there’s content fatigue, and the scroll feels the same,” she says. “You have to focus on saying something meaningful and offering real value to your community.”
Diversification is key, according to Paula. “The creators who win are those building communities not just on platforms, but outside them, on Substack, Reddit, Discord, or gaming spaces,” she says. “It’s not about being louder, it’s about being smarter and more intentional.”
For brands entering these communities, Paula urges caution. “You can’t just drop an ad into a Substack,” she says. “If you’re new to a community, think carefully about how you show up.”
The key, she adds, is creating content that feels genuine: ‘Listen first, provide value, then engage.’
The Next Phase: Professionalization and Accountability
Paula sees the creator economy becoming more professional amid the convergence of creators and media companies. “In the next three to five years, creators and brands will overlap even more,” she predicts. “Creators are becoming full-scale media companies, building products, IP [Intellectual Property], and communities.”
This development presents both opportunities and responsibilities. “We’re entering a new era of accountability,” Paula says. “As budgets grow, so do expectations and demands for transparency. With greater maturity in the space, brands will expect clear ROI (Return on Investment), standardized measurement, and brand safety – which has always been a core focus for us.”
For Intuition Media Group, this means helping clients adopt more structured and measurable creator strategies. “Our job in the next few years is to bring more strategy and structure to influencer marketing,” Paula says.
Despite the industry’s complexity, Paula remains energized by its pace of change. “It’s been a roller coaster. Everything moves fast, and we’re writing the playbook as we go,” she reflects. “I love it. Every day brings something new. I thrive on change, creativity, and human connection. That’s where we’re headed.”
