Future Launches Creator Network Across Marie Claire, Sister Brands Amid Site Traffic Decline

Global specialist media company Future has introduced a new creator-led content initiative called “Collab,” which spans its portfolio, including Marie Claire and other brands. According to Future’s announcement, the initiative aims to reassert the company’s brands as reputable media voices while leveraging creators’ direct relationships with audiences.

Collab will host a network of creators and integrate their content across Future’s portfolio with new franchises associated with the existing brands:

  • Style at Large on Marie Claire
  • Editors in Residence on Who What Wear
  • By Design on Homes & Gardens
  • Open House on Ideal Home
  • Adviser Intel on Kiplinger
  • Replay on GamesRadar+ (launching soon)

Creators will be hand-selected and paid flat fees as contributors. The initial focus is on long-form articles, which will be promoted across websites, newsletters, and social channels.

The program arrives as publishers face declining site traffic and audience fragmentation across platforms. According to recent Sprout Social research, 41% of Gen Z now turn to social platforms first when seeking information, compared to 32% who use traditional search engines.

An Industry-Wide Shift

According to Axios, Future’s approach represents a growing trend among media companies building scalable businesses around creator collaborations:

Condé Nast recently announced Vette, a new shopping platform with creator-led storefronts launching in 2026. Vox Media has partnered with creators such as Tefi Pessoa for an advice column and podcast. Yahoo released its own creator publishing tools last year with Yahoo for Creators.

“This is a long-term partnership model, not a volume-based content pipeline,” Hillary Kerr, SVP of Women & Luxury at Future and co-founder of Who What Wear, told Axios. “We really are invested in these creators and see them as true partners and that their success is directly linked to ours.”

Mutual Benefits for Publishers and Creators

While contributor models aren’t new to publishing, these relationships are now more formalized and paid, focusing on individuals who publish their own content across platforms and who have built their own followings, according to the announcement.

Jason Orme, Managing Director of Lifestyle at Future, said: “Each of our brands has its own unique identity and audience … through Collab, we are not just reporting on trends – we are collaborating with the creators who are shaping them.”

Creators also see value in the arrangement. Erika Veurink, founder of EV Salon and creator of the Substack ‘Long Live,’ said joining Marie Claire as a contributing editor “was an easy decision” that represents a “full-circle moment” in her career.
