Sundance Institute Seeks Festival Editor For 2026 Film Festival Video Marketing Content

Sundance Institute is hiring a temporary Festival Editor for Video Content to support marketing efforts for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. The position comes as the festival continues to embrace the creator economy following its inaugural Creator Day at the 2025 event.

Position Details and Responsibilities

The Park City, Utah-based role runs from October 27, 2025, through February 20, 2026, offering $24.17 hourly plus benefits. The Festival Editor will work under the Content Producer to edit marketing videos highlighting independent filmmakers and Sundance resources.

Primary responsibilities include editing assignments using Adobe Premiere Pro and companion applications, integrating motion graphics with video footage, and serving as Lead Editor on a team of editors and assistant editors. The position requires strong project management skills to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

“Working closely under the direction of the Content Producer, the Festival Editor, Video Content supports Sundance Institute’s commitment to creating content that highlights the needed work of independent filmmakers,” the job listing states.

Creator Economy Growth at Sundance

The hiring follows Sundance’s expanded focus on the creator economy during its 2025 festival, which featured a first-ever dedicated Creator Day. The invitation-only event included panels on content creation and a fireside chat with YouTube creators Sean Evans, Rhett McLaughlin, and Link Neal.

“Creators have attended Sundance for years, but have primarily been in the capacity of brand-sponsored events,” Reach Agency CEO Gabe Gordon, who co-hosted Creator Day, told Net Influencer. “Our intention was to change that dynamic.”

The position emerges amid significant growth in the creator economy sector. According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), full-time equivalent creator jobs have increased 7.5 times since 2020, reaching 1.5 million positions in the United States.

This sector is growing five times faster than traditional media, with creators now accounting for “more than 1 out of every 10 full-time, internet-dependent jobs,” according to the IAB’s April 2025 report.

Qualifications and Application Timeline

Candidates require three years of video editing experience, proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, and a strong understanding of Frame.io and Camera to Cloud. The position requires expertise in both social-driven and long-form content across vertical and horizontal formats.

The Sundance Institute began accepting applications on August 28. While remote work is possible before the festival, the position requires on-site presence at key times, with extended hours including evenings and weekends during busy periods.
