YouTube creators Colin and Samir are set to host Press Publish NYC, a curated one-day summit for the creator economy, scheduled for September 4 in Brooklyn. The event, announced by Josh Kaplan, CEO of Smooth Media, represents an expansion of the company’s community-building efforts.
“This is easily one of the most ambitious things we’ve ever taken on, but it feels like the most natural extension of what we’ve been building,” states Kaplan.
The summit employs an application-based registration process, with tickets priced at $400. Applications close August 19, with decisions communicated within one week of submission.
“We’re making sure that everyone who gets to come can provide value to each other,” Samir explains in a TikTok video. “These are all puzzle pieces that fit together.”
The organizers aim to gather 400 creators, team members, and industry leaders at Skylight at The Refinery in Williamsburg’s Domino Park.
Programming Features
Press Publish NYC will include:
- A single track of expert speakers
- Small, hands-on workshops
- A live recording of The Colin and Samir Show with audience Q&A
“The most value I find from going to an event is meeting someone, and I’m honoring that in us, developing the programming,” says Samir. “You want to walk away feeling like you know more about this industry and more about your job, either as a creator or someone who works with creators.”
The event builds on Smooth Media’s existing community initiatives, including The Publish Press newsletter and Coffee With Creators meetups across multiple cities.
