Advertising Week New York Wraps 22nd Year With Kerry Washington, Russell Wilson and Sophia Bush

Advertising Week New York concluded its 22nd year on October 8, closing a four-day event in THE PENN DISTRICT that brought together athletes, actors, creators and media personalities including Kerry Washington, Russell Wilson, Sophia Bush, Nick Cannon, Megan Rapinoe, Fat Joe, Ryan Serhant, Tefi Pessoa, Harry Jowsey, Joakim Noah, The Try Guys and Christina Milian.

Washington used her appearance for an announcement about Simpson Street’s expanding slate, revealing that author Mel Robbins will appear as a guest in the new season of her podcast, The Street You Grew Up On.

Wilson discussed building a safer social media platform for children and described how he and his wife, Ciara, approach raising kids in the public eye. “We believe our kids are going to be stars in what they do, but they are going to work their butts off,” he said.

Bush spoke about her memoir, “And I Will Tell You Mine,” and addressed the current political climate. “It’s crazy to me that we’re here. The writing has been on the wall. We saw Trump win and [saw] Project 2025, and people said, ‘He’s kidding.’ We now have to make room for people who just realized they were lied to, hear them when they admit it, and have them help fix it. Fighting over what they should have known isn’t going to get us anywhere,” she said, adding: “We can go on without so much, but we can’t go on without delight for being alive.”

Cannon marked his 46th birthday by hosting “The Masked CMO,” a marketing-themed spinoff tied to Dhar Mann’s inaugural Creator Experience. Big Boy surprised him on stage with a birthday cake alongside Fat Joe, Christina Milian, Harry Jowsey, Ryan Serhant, Adam Waheed and Haley Kalil.

Rapinoe and Noah discussed transitioning into podcast and video hosting after retiring from professional sports. On launching her show, Why Are You Like This?, Rapinoe said, “If anyone’s going to be asking the questions that will really put you into the culture of women’s soccer and where it’s been… I gotta think that I’m going to be one of the best ones to do that.”

Pessoa, co-host of “Love Island USA: Aftersun,” shared details on the franchise’s reach, including that former First Lady Michelle Obama watches “Love Island USA” with her oldest daughter, Malia.

Other speakers across the four-day event included Alix Earle, John Legend, Issa Rae, Trevor Noah, Venus Williams, Rob Gronkowski, Dhar Mann, Jordyn Woods, Questlove, Wayne Gretzky, WILLOW Smith, Terry Crews, Flavor Flav, Rebecca Minkoff, Anthony Anderson, Pablo Torre, Remi Bader, Al Roker, Allyson Felix, Dorinda Medley, Brandon Edelman (“Bran Flakezz”), Gia Giudice and Billy McFarland.
