Street-Style Interviewer Maurice Kamara Signs With UTA
Maurice Kamara, the creator behind the celebrity and street-style interview page “The People Gallery,” has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation, the agency confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kamara built “The People Gallery” into an online fashion page with more than 3 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, stopping celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Pamela Anderson and Michael B. Jordan at fashion shows and other events, along with everyday New Yorkers, to ask about their outfits. His recurring opener, “Let’s see your fit, describe it for us,” has become a signature of the format.
“What began as Kamara stopping stylish strangers on the streets of New York has grown into a global platform documenting the people, personalities, and perspectives shaping culture across fashion, music, sports, and beyond,” UTA said in a statement. The UTA Creators division will work to expand Kamara’s opportunities in digital media, brand partnerships, sports and other platforms.
Kamara, a Brooklyn native, spent more than 15 years in high-end retail before starting “The People Gallery.” He has since attended the Met Gala and fashion weeks around the world and been profiled by The New York Times and GQ. His brand work includes an upcoming collaboration with UGG, and he appears in Drake’s recently released short film “FOMO.”
The deal continues a series of creator signings with UTA this year. In July, the agency signed Dominican-American creator Jess Judith, who built an audience of roughly five million followers across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube around bilingual storytelling and her show “El Pre-Party,” featuring artists including Bad Bunny, Shakira and Becky G. That signing followed UTA’s representation deal for pastry chef and YouTuber Amaury Guichon, who has roughly 96 million followers across platforms.
UTA launched the first dedicated digital talent group among major agencies in 2006 to identify and represent category-leading creators across emerging and established platforms. The UTA Creators division currently represents Jake Shane, Alix Earle, Emma Chamberlain, Keith Lee, and Kareem Rahma, among others.
