TikTok Launches Ad-Free Subscription Tier for UK Users
TikTok has announced that it will introduce a paid, ad-free subscription option for UK users aged 18 and over, priced at £3.99 per month.
The new tier, called TikTok Ad-Free, will roll out gradually over the coming months. Users who do not subscribe will continue to access TikTok under its existing ad-supported model, with personalized ads and no change to core features, content, or creator access.
TikTok said subscribers and non-subscribers alike will retain full access to the same features and content. The company noted that in-app controls within Settings will allow users to manage their plan or adjust ad personalization preferences at any time.
Support for UK Businesses
TikTok framed the dual-tier structure as compatible with its continued support for UK advertisers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises. The company cited a 2022 estimate showing UK SMEs generated approximately £1.2 billion in revenue through advertising on the platform, with the food and beverage sector recording the highest impact.
A separate 2023 socio-economic impact report by Oxford Economics found that SME activity on TikTok contributed £1.6 billion to UK GDP in 2022 and supported 32,000 jobs.
“Choice for our community and growth for UK businesses go hand in hand on TikTok,” said Kris Boger, TikTok’s UK Managing Director. “Advertising on our platform is already helping thousands of British businesses reach new customers, increase sales, and create jobs, while our new ad-free option gives people greater control over their experience.”
