Snapchat Launches Recap 2025 Featuring Personalized Year-End Video Highlights
Snapchat announced the release of its 2025 Recap feature, which offers users personalized video summaries of their year on the platform. Users access their Recap through the app’s Memories section, where a “Your 2025 Snap Recap” card appears.
The feature joins similar year-end recap offerings from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Duolingo.
Voice Communication, Group Messaging, and Reactions
According to Snapchat’s announcement, voice-based communication on the platform increased substantially in 2025. Snapchat users talk for an average of nearly 1.7 billion minutes daily via voice notes, voice calls, and video chats, representing nearly 30% growth from the previous year. U.S. users sent more than 5 billion voice notes in 2025, marking nearly 10% year-over-year growth.
Group chat usage has grown by more than 5% in 2025, with the most active users sending more than 8,880 messages to their top group chat during the year. Chat Reactions increased by 44%, with the heart emoji emerging as the most popular reaction.
Sticker usage expanded as 3 million additional users adopted the feature for communication in 2025. The 6/7 Bitmoji Sticker has become the most-used sticker since its launch.
Visual Trends Shape User Expression
Popular Bitmoji-inspired hairstyles in 2025 include the slicked-back bun, broccoli hair, and curtain bangs, reflecting current visual trends on the platform.
The Recap release coincides with user backlash over Snapchat’s September announcement that it will limit free Memories storage to 5GB starting next year, with overflow storage requiring paid subscriptions ranging from $1.99 per month for 100GB to $15.99 per month for 5TB, according to TechCrunch.
