Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Launch In India With AI Assistant, Live Translation Features

Meta has introduced its AI-powered smart glasses to the Indian market as the country’s creator economy continues growing toward a projected $100 billion valuation by 2030.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses are now available for pre-order in India starting at INR 29,900 (~$360). The collection features the classic Wayfarer style in standard and large sizes, plus the new Skyler design in Shiny Chalky Grey. Options include sun, clear, polarized, Transitions®, and prescription-compatible lenses.

According to Meta’s announcement, the glasses integrate Meta AI, activated by the voice command “Hey Meta,” allowing users to inquire about surroundings, receive cooking suggestions, and access information hands-free. The technology supports live translation across English, French, Italian, and Spanish, functioning offline when language packs are pre-downloaded.

Meta AI capabilities extend to the companion mobile app, where conversations begun on the glasses can continue. Users can edit photos captured with the glasses using AI image manipulation tools.

Expanded App Ecosystem

Meta is expanding functionality through third-party app integrations. Music services, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Shazam, will be accessible via voice commands in English. Messaging capabilities include WhatsApp, Messenger, and native messaging apps on both Android and iPhone.

Instagram integration is forthcoming. This will enable users to send and receive direct messages and photos, and make audio and video calls hands-free—features particularly relevant as India’s creator economy expands.

According to Boston Consulting Group, the sector is projected to exceed $100 billion in revenue by 2030, with consumer spending influenced by digital content creators expected to surpass $1 trillion. Currently, India hosts 2-2.5 million content creators with over 1,000 followers each, collectively influencing $350-400 billion in consumer spending across metropolitan areas and smaller cities.
