Tim Stokely, founder of OnlyFans, announces the launch of Subs.com, a new subscription platform designed for creators across multiple categories. The mobile-first platform combines video hosting, paid subscriptions, and one-to-one interaction capabilities in a single service.
“There’s a clear demand for a subscription platform that gives creators everything they need in one place,” Stokely said in a press release. “It isn’t just for one type of creator, it’s for all creators.”
Subs offers several features aimed at helping creators build audiences and convert viewers to paying subscribers:
- An “Explore” discovery feed to help creators reach new audiences
- A “Shows” feature for hosting long-form content with built-in discoverability
- One-to-one audio and video calls that Stokely describes as a “lucrative new revenue stream”
- Revenue sharing capabilities allowing collaboration between creators
- A partner program with a two-tier referral system
The platform maintains the same 80% revenue split for creators as OnlyFans offers.
Differentiation Strategy
Stokely positions Subs as addressing limitations in existing platforms by combining free and paid content. The platform’s “Shows” feature places a creator’s paid profile directly behind free content, which Stokely calls a “game changer.”
“Creators need more than just a paywall,” Stokely told Business Insider. “We’re not just building on what’s been done before. We’re creating something wider reaching.”
The platform houses both safe-for-work and adult content, requiring operation as a web app rather than through mobile app stores. Early adopters include lingerie expert Saterra St. Jean and podcaster Alex Chisnall.
Stokely’s return to the creator economy comes after he stepped down as OnlyFans CEO in 2021. He also recently partnered with a cryptocurrency foundation through his startup, Zoop, to submit a bid for TikTok.
