Netflix Signs 16-Year-Old Creator Salish Matter And Father Jordan To Multifaceted Content Deal
Netflix announced a partnership with YouTube creators Jordan Matter and his daughter Salish Matter, who operate a channel with nearly 35 million subscribers and more than 13 billion lifetime views.
The agreement represents Netflix’s most expansive creator deal to date, encompassing development, production, and starring roles across scripted, unscripted, and animated series. The deal also includes partnerships on consumer products and experiential offerings.
Deal Structure and Content Plans
The exclusive development deal allows the father-daughter team to “continue to develop their fan-favorite franchises alongside new projects exclusive to Netflix across scripted, unscripted, and animated series – all starring Salish,” according to Netflix’s announcement. The streaming platform will make the duo’s existing YouTube content archive available for streaming later this year, with new original programming launching this spring.
Jordan, a photographer who launched his YouTube channel in 2017, expressed enthusiasm about the scope of the partnership.
Salish, who joined her father’s videos in 2020 at age 10, won the “2025 Female Creator of the Year” award at the Kids’ Choice Awards at age 15. She also co-founded skincare line Sincerely Yours in partnership with Sephora.
John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series, Kids & Family TV at Netflix, said the partnership aligns with the platform’s programming strategy. “Salish and Jordan Matter are unparalleled creators with a massive fandom and a vibrant, high-energy storytelling style that kids and family audiences instantly love,” he said.
Netflix’s Creator Acquisition Strategy
The Matter deal follows recent Netflix partnerships with high-profile YouTube creators, including Ms. Rachel, Mark Rober, and Alan Chikin Chow.
As reported by Tubefilter, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos previously described YouTube as a “farm league” where the platform can observe talent development before signing creators.
During Netflix’s 2025 Q4 earnings call, the company indicated it expects lower profits this year due to heavy investment in fresh content.
