NBCUniversal Brings Peacock to YouTube Premium in Multi-Year Streaming Deal
NBCUniversal and YouTube announced a multi-year global partnership that will bundle Peacock Premium with YouTube Premium subscriptions in the U.S. starting in early 2027. The agreement marks what NBCUniversal called Peacock’s largest wholesale distribution deal to date.
Under the bundle, millions of existing YouTube Premium subscribers will gain access to Peacock’s library, including NFL, NBA, MLB, Premier League and Olympics coverage, along with series such as “Love Island USA,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Saturday Night Live.” Access will be built into the YouTube experience rather than requiring a separate app or login.
“This partnership brings NBCUniversal’s world-class content and iconic franchises to YouTube’s unmatched scale and global platforms,” said Mike Cavanagh, co-CEO of Comcast Corporation. YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said the deal pairs YouTube Premium’s ad-free access to creators and artists with “Peacock’s expansive lineup of live sports like Sunday Night Football and the NBA, blockbuster Universal movies, and original series.”
The agreement extends beyond the subscription bundle. It renews NBCUniversal’s multi-year distribution deal with YouTube TV, deepens the two companies’ advertising technology collaboration through FreeWheel, and expands the international footprint of NBCUniversal’s Universal+ and Hayu streaming services through YouTube Premium in select markets. NBC Sports will also serve as a production partner for select live sporting events streamed on YouTube, with a selection of NBCUniversal live sports events set to appear on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel. The deal separately extends YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Premium distribution on Comcast’s Xfinity and Xumo platforms.
“With this agreement, Peacock accelerates its next phase of growth by bringing the service to millions of YouTube Premium subscribers, driving long-term value for our business,” said Matt Strauss, Chairman of NBCUniversal’s Media Group.
Peacock Premium will also become available as a standalone add-on through YouTube Primetime Channels later this summer; Peacock Premium Plus has carried that distribution since late June. Mary Ellen Coe, YouTube’s Chief Business Officer, framed the arrangement as building “a sustainable growth engine for both of our companies” across streaming, advertising and live sports production.
The deal lands roughly seven months after NBCUniversal, YouTube, Meta and TikTok jointly deployed creators to cover the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
