Creator Industry Veteran Jon Youshaei Launches Tax Services Firm For Content Creators
Creator and industry veteran Jon Youshaei has launched Boring Stuff, a company that provides tax preparation, bookkeeping, and back-office services to content creators. Youshaei founded the Los Angeles-based company with business partner Amanda Marcovitch, Varun Bhuchar, and entrepreneur Zack Honarvar.
The team spent the past year building the service in stealth mode and already supports creators including Airrack (18 million subscribers), The Try Guys (8 million subscribers), and Yes Theory (9 million subscribers).
“Everyone hates taxes, but creators especially. Most of us do this to follow our passion, not file paperwork. But the latter is just as important as you grow. I’ve met too many creators who lost tons of money because their taxes were a mess or they trusted accountants who didn’t understand creators at all. We started Boring Stuff to fix that,” said Youshaei, who serves as the company’s creator lead.
Youshaei has worked on both YouTube and Instagram and has conducted interviews with creators, including MrBeast, Steph Curry, iShowSpeed, and Marques Brownlee, as well as YouTube CEO Neil Mohan.
Leadership Team
Marcovitch joins as co-founder after leading operations for several Fortune 500 companies. Business Insider named her one of its “Top Rising Stars in Talent Management.”
“In building Jon’s business past seven figures, I saw firsthand how impactful it can be to maximize write-offs, avoid penalties, and improve operations,” Marcovitch said. “Now we’re excited to help other creators with that too.”
Bhuchar serves as CEO and has more than five years of experience working with creators to optimize their businesses.
“I’m a big believer in taking a white-glove, high-touch approach to each and every creator who signs up for our service. After all, one size does not fit all for creators. Every creator has different needs, and our team is trained to know those nuances, maximize deductions, and save costs so creators grow faster,” Bhuchar said.
Services Offered
Boring Stuff provides bookkeeping and monthly financial reporting, tax preparation, filing, and compliance, payroll and contractor management, and operational and HR systems for scaling teams.
The company uses a retainer-based model rather than a revenue-share arrangement, and it was built exclusively for creators.
Airrack, whose real name is Eric Decker, noted that the service has changed his workflow. “Boring Stuff has honestly been a game changer,” he said. “I feel like I’m breathing easier and making better videos because they handle all my non-creative tasks. Plus, they’re constantly helping me find new ways to save money.”
Ammar Kandil of Yes Theory said the company improved his channel’s financial management. “Hiring Boring Stuff was one of the best decisions we’ve made for our channel,” Kandil said. “We tried handling it in-house, but honestly, this was way better. Now, we actually know every detail of where our money is going, so we can focus on being creative.”
