Amazon Launches Program for Independent Creators Navigating AI Search
Amazon has launched “Amazon Content Partners,” a new program designed to help independent content creators manage and monetize AI crawler traffic as AI-powered search reshapes how consumers discover content online.
The program, now in public gated preview at contentpartners.amazon.com, bundles four benefits: AI traffic management through AWS WAF, a 1% affiliate commission boost on eligible Amazon Associates sales, premium advertising access through Amazon Publisher Services, and $100 per month in AWS hosting credits with CloudFront CDN included. Amazon plans to make the program generally available later this summer.
The launch comes as consumer search behavior moves away from traditional search engines. A recent Adobe Express survey of over 800 U.S. consumers found that 49% had used TikTok as a search engine, up from 41% in 2024. An additional 14% of consumers surveyed said they are more likely to rely on ChatGPT than Google for search.
AI Crawler Control at the Center
The AWS WAF component gives creators visibility into which AI bots access their sites, with the ability to block, rate-limit, allow, or monetize that traffic. Amazon described the feature as a direct response to creator demand, noting that “content creators have been asking for exactly this kind of visibility and control.”
Participation is voluntary, carries no fees, and has no minimum traffic requirements. Creators activate benefits by allowing Amazon continued access to their content and can leave the program at any time.
The program is currently limited to U.S.-based creators.
Targeting Independent Publishers
Amazon positioned the program as a resource for independent bloggers, niche publications, and content sites that lack the scale to navigate the shift toward AI-driven discovery. The company, which said it has worked with hundreds of thousands of independent creators, described Amazon Content Partners as “a natural next step.”
The Adobe Express study found that small business owners allocated an average of 16% of their marketing budgets to creating TikTok content and 15% of their SEO budgets to TikTok search optimization, reflecting a broader reallocation of resources toward non-traditional discovery platforms.
Creators can join the waitlist at contentpartners.amazon.com.
