Former Sony Music Podcast Executive Emily Rasekh Joins CAA’s Creator Division

Emily Rasekh, who most recently led global podcast strategy and operations at Sony Music Entertainment, has joined Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as an executive in its creators division, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Rasekh will work on podcast and digital media strategies for clients across film, television, news and other areas.

She spent seven years at Sony Music Entertainment, most recently as SVP of Global Podcast Strategy and Operations, building out the company’s podcast business. That work included partnering with leading podcast creators and negotiating talent agreements, content licensing deals, multi-show partnerships and strategic investments. She also led the launch of Sony’s true-crime podcast network and subscription franchise, “The Binge.”

Before Sony, Rasekh held senior leadership roles at CBS, where she oversaw mobile and video strategy across the company’s television and radio stations and led the launch of CBS Radio’s podcast business. Earlier, she worked in strategy and business development at MTV, focusing on emerging distribution platforms, strategic partnerships and new business opportunities for Comedy Central, Spike and other networks. She began her career in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

“Emily brings an exceptional combination of experience across talent partnerships, programming, and business strategy, along with a deep understanding of how the Creator Economy continues to evolve,” said Josh Lindgren, Head of Podcasts for CAA. “She has a proven track record of building businesses, forging meaningful partnerships, and identifying new opportunities for creators. We’re excited to welcome her to the team and look forward to the impact she’ll have as we continue to grow our business.”

The hire follows CAA’s June launch of Compound Creative Holdings with Integrated Media Company (IMC), a TPG vehicle. Compound is a $250 million holding company that targets the acquisition, operation and growth of creator-led media businesses. According to the June announcement, Compound operates independently from CAA Creators, the agency’s creator representation business, which represents more than 300 creators.
