Aligrace Denim, a San Diego-based brand that reworks vintage Levi’s into custom-fitting silhouettes, has released its first full collaborative collection with beauty influencer Tatyana Lafata, as reported by WWD.

Founder Ali Grace said the brand has previously named individual styles after influencers who placed custom orders, but this marks the first time Aligrace has partnered with someone on an entire collection, from concept through final product. The collaboration began in 2024 and grew out of Lafata’s history as a customer. “She has a real love for vintage clothing, quality denim, and pieces that feel special and intentional,” Grace said. “It was important to us to collaborate with someone who naturally connected with the ethos of the brand and understood the value of having a truly great-fitting pair of jeans.”

Grace and Lafata developed the collection by exchanging inspiration images and discussing silhouettes before narrowing several concepts down to four styles, followed by multiple rounds of fittings and design sessions with Aligrace’s seamstresses. Lafata described her influence on the line directly: “My denim style is either tight and fitted or baggy and trendy. You can definitely see this reflected in the collection.”

The four-piece line includes the Max Short, a low-waist, baggy vintage 501 short; the Florita Capri, a fitted capri with a two-inch hem split; and the Tatyana Bootcut, a slim-fitting bootcut with an approximately 8.5-inch low rise. The collection’s statement piece, the Louisa Jean, features an engineered back-belt construction and a wide-leg insert built from two reclaimed vintage-denim panels, which Grace called one of the most technically involved garments the brand has produced. Each belt opening and buttonhole on the piece is individually measured, cut, and finished.

Grace said fit decisions, including rise placement, hem thickness and leg length, were worked out through physical cutting and testing. “Nothing was finalized until the fit, construction, and overall feeling of each piece felt completely right,” she said.
